Last year, Hurley Bragan’s best friend left him saddled with debt and trapped in servitude to a greedy merchant. Only Hurley’s magical rose-tinted glasses, which make reminders of pain invisible, helped him bear the betrayal. With one last day left to pay off the debt, Hurley and his talking seagull find another job in the harbor. But seemingly invisible objects block Hurley’s steps. And the very ship his friend sailed away on arrives in port. Faced with either failure or confronting his buried pain, Hurley is forced to ask the question: How can we heal from things that hurt?
